Hello Friends,
Today is the 12th day of Advent - the days leading up to Christmas, when we prepare our hearts to receive and embrace the Christ Child.
Day 12's Advent devotional was written by Penny Bragg at His Kingdom Come and the song given is called, "Winter Snow".
The song says, "You came like a winter snow, quiet and soft and slow." That put me in mind of how Jesus drew me back to himself when I had strayed away from him as a teenager.
The last time I can remember being in church, before I left on my rebellious way, the pastor quoted John 3:16. "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes on him should not perish but have everlasting life."
In my heart, I said, "If God loved us so much then why didn't he come himself instead of sending his poor son?" I never voiced those words aloud to anyone; never even wrote them in my diary.
About three years later, when I was 18, my brother showed me John chapter one, where it says, "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."
Right away I remember my question, the one I had never dared to speak aloud. Jesus was God. Jesus is God. He did come Himself. He sent his own living Spirit to live among us in human form.
For those three long years I had searched for fulfillment in my life, but most of all I longed to be loved. And here was LOVE, waiting with His arms outstretched to me all along. I stepped into his embrace and gently he washed my sin and hurt away - like a winter snow.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. I am glad you stopped by.
Blessing hugs,
Teresa
