TMD Week One, Part One

Hello my friends,

I am so glad you have decided to join me in my new blog adventure. As stated in my first post, A Closer Walk will focus mainly on my Take Me Deeper art journal journey with His Kingdom Come.

The first TMD scripture for 2015 was Romans 12:1-2. Each verse spoke very differently to me so I gave each its own page.

Verse 1 says: Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true and proper worship. What grabbed my attention was "IN VIEW OF GOD'S MERCY".

I can feel safe about offering myself unreservedly to my Heavenly Father because of his great mercy toward me. He understands all of my weaknesses and, as the Psalmist (103:14) said, "He knows that I am dust." He will not expect the same from me as he will expect from someone else, and he never compares me to anyone else. There is no, "Why can't you be like your sister?" from him.

This vintage image reminds me of one of my favourite books, "Saint Theresa: The Story of a Soul". Theresa called herself the saint of the "small ways", a motto that Mother Theresa patterned her life after -- doing small things with great love. The Lord is pleased with my sacrifices of love, no matter how small they may seem.
Another group on the His Kingdom Come community is called Logos365. In it members are challenged to ask God for a word (or phrase) for 2015. My phrase is "Make Space" and I have been weaving it into my TMD journal studies. Week One's application is simply to make space for intrusions of my time. That may not be a stretch for most, but when I get 'on-task' I do not like to be interrupted. It is a small sacrifice of love for me to cheerfully lay down what I am doing for the sake of someone who wants some of my time. The key word here is cheerfully. I am not always successful at that part, but I am working on it. :)

Thanks again for stopping by. I welcome your comments on what this verse means to you, on what I have said, or even just on my art.

Blessings on you and yours,
Teresa

My New Blog

Hello Friends,

I am so glad you have decided to take a look at my new blog, "Tickell Expressions - A Closer Walk".

I started A Closer Walk because of the 2015 Take Me Deeper art journal challenge at His Kingdom Come. My TMD art journal will include bible study notes and what I feel God is teaching me through specific scriptures. Some of the pages I share may be more about the study itself than the art that goes with it, giving "A Closer Walk" a different flavour than "Tickell Expressions".

I welcome new followers and if you are a regular follower of Tickell Expressions I would love to have you join me in this new adventure. However if this is not your cup of tea (the blog address is teacloserwalk - Haha), please don't feel obligated to join.

Here are pictures of my TMD journal cover and first two pages. Click here for details and more pics.
Thanks again for taking a look. I hope you will be back again.

Blessing hugs,
Teresa
